■ The London Iron and Steel Exchange in its -weekly report states that Britisi iron and steel manufacturers are experiencing' a gradual but definite expansion in activity.

The pig-iron department is becoming more healthy, and in this ; as iirthe urifinishi cd. steel and finished Bteel branches, an improvement in demand is a noticeable feature in the situation." '■
Figures relating-to exports of British' cotton goods for the last ten months; show tliat Lancashire's staple trade is also improving. The exports of printed cotton goods for the past ten months increased by over 100,000,000 square yards on the figures for the corresponding period last year. ■■'•-.■'
