VISIT TO AFRICA

MAY GO TO KHARTOUM
LONDON, 4th November.
The Duke, of Gloucester, the King's third son, will leave shortly after Christmas for a shooting trip to the Sudan and will be away from England for two or three months. He has made two .earlier hunting expeditions to Africa. In 1928 lie accompanied the Prince of Wales/ on a "safari" in East and South Africa, when the expedition was interrupted on account of the King's illness. • In 1930, after representing the King at the coronation of the King of Abyssinia, he spent some time hunting in that country.
The present trip will be of an unofficial nature, unaccompanied by any ceremonial. The Duke will probably pay a short private visit to Khartoum, as the guest of Sir John Maffey, Gov-ernor-General of the Sudan. - Captain Brook, well-known big-game hunter and extra equerry, will accompany the Duke.
