POWER CHARGES
FURTHEB REDUCTIONS
FOR COMMERCIAL USERS
The City Council last evening approved, of the following reductions in commercial electricity tariffs .as; from lst'December:— -
" (a) Commercial lighting : s The present 10 per cent, "discount to be increased to 15 per cent; (b) Commercial heating: A discount of 10 per cent, on the present rate of 2d per unit. . * ' ' I (c) Power: A discount of 10 per cent, for current consumed under the standard unit tariff.' ■"
The Electricity Department was authorised to take-steps to operate a:commercial demand tariff on the. following > basis:—(a) Five/pence (sd) per unit until the quantity consumed amounts to 45 multiplied by the consumer's maximum demand in k.v.a.; and one penny (Id) for all uriits_ used in excess of this amount, (b) This tariff to be subject to a guaranteed revenue of £7 10s per k.v.a. per annum, (c) Any consumer electing to be charged under the demand tariff to ■be required to remain on this tariff for a period of not less than twelve months before being permitted to revert to the unit tariff should he so desire. ,- , \.
Councillor C. H. Chapman, M.T?,, asked what the position was concerning the ordinary domestic, consumer. Councillor' T. Forsyth: They* are on a win all the time. .
The Mayor. (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) said at the present moment it was-felt that no. further relief could be given. The domestic' consumer was on a fairly good, wicket at the present time.
