H. j.. Stianks . won the Morningtou Club's. championship during the week-end, defeating J. Bowness 2 up over 36 holes. Bowness led in the first round, but Shanks played the better.after lunch, coming back in 32, returning a 72 to Bowness's 76: Shanks's 40 out had a,7 in it at the ninth. He came back in 354334433.
In the second round of the competition for Messrs. Fitt and McKinnon's trophy played by the Mornington Club during the week-end, Laycoek beat Baigent, 4 and 3; Watkins boat Wallace, 4 and 3; Stephens beat Welsford, 3 and 1; Hennessy beat Elton, 3 and 1; Cooper beat Johnston, 4 and 2; Nicholas beat McElligott, 2 up; Cooch beat Denniston, by default; Sandford beat Edwards, by default; Barton beat Pope, by ■■ default; Ward beat Perrett, by default; Finch beat Estall, 5 and 3; MeWhirter beat McGirr, 1 up; Andrews beat McKean, by default.
