The Niagara's mail was easily the biggest' that has loft, these shores during the current year, consisting as it did of 988 bags of letters and 70 bags of parcels. Last year ?s Christmas mail consisted of just over a "thousand-bags of letters, but this is. no indication that fewer letters are being sent Home for Christmas this year/, because "direct steamers during tho last'couple of weeks, or so have taken over 800 bags of mail. More Christmas numbers of illustrated weeklies havo been posted this year than last year, bags of these exceeding last year's figures by\6o.
