FRIENDLY CONFERENCE

MR. FORBES'S COMMENT

Any suggestion that the countrymembers had held a pistol at the head of the Government was denied by the Prime Minister (the Eight Hon. G. W. Forbes) this afternoon.

"They expressed a desire to discuss the position, but they made it clear that they, did not wish to embarrass the Government, recognising that the Government. has enough worries already," said .Mr. Forbes.

He added that the conference was of a friendly nature and that the discussion concerning the alternatives put forward was temperate.
