THE LATE COLONEL

TREVOR

"It is not very often that we refer to the death o£ pressmen at this table, but I would like to refer to the death of Colonel Phillip. Trevor," said Mr. S. S. Dean, chairman of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union,' at a meeting of the committee last night. •

Mr. Dean said that Colonel Trevor had played a very important part in.the game and had done wonderful service for it in the profession of journalism that he followed. He was one man in England; in,*whom we] had complete confidence. I think he gave' reports fairly and squarely, and his reports were appreciated by th§ people not only in England, but also in Nejv-Zealand."

Mr. Dean moved that a~ letter of condolence be sent from the union to Colonel Trevor's relatives, expressing appreciation of his work in the interests of Eugby, both as a critic and as- a, supporter of ,tho game. .--'-■ ■ ■ ■

In seconding the motion, Mr. F. Glasgow, a member, of the.1905 team, said that in 19051 Colonel Trevor was looked upon 'as the fairest critic the team had, and it was recognised that he possessed" an • intimate knowledge of the game. • Mr..W..J. Wallace supported.Mr..Glasgow's remarks, and' said that- in South Africa Colonel Trevor was very good to the New Zealand teams after the Boer War. The.motion was carried in silence.
