A VISIT TO LEVIN

Lord and Lady Bledisloe paid their first official visit to Levin to-day and were welcomed,:. byj the Mayor and council. Their Excellencies visited the Eistriet High School .and Convent School, addressing the children. A public Teception was given in the Gardens. Addresses' of welcome were given by the Mayor, Mr. P. W. Goldsmith, tho chairman of the County Council, Mr. Monk, and Mr. J. Linklater, M.P. Lord Bledisloe, in the course of his reply, said that he was a confirmed optimist so far as the future of New Zealand' was concerned. Speaking to the farmers, he emphasised the importance, in order to secure the British markets, of sending forward primary products .of high quality and uniform description. .. ' Their Excellencies afterwards visited different parts of the surrounding district.
