A considerable, amount "''"of the time of the : House of Representatives yesterday was devoted to a discussion on. local Bills, chief among which was the Wellington City Empowering and .Amendment Bill, x which gave the '. City. Council authority to devote. the balance of unexpended loan money to waterworks proposals. The Bill was discussed lf or .two. hours and a division was called for on an amendment designed to safeguard the rights of -.local bodies in the Hutt Valley regarding the artesian water supply. The amendment was carried by four votes) ; and the Bill, as amended, was passed. "Other local Bills finally dealt with were fhe Ohai'Railway Board Bill and the Carterton Borough Council and Wairarapa South County Council Empowering Bill.. ' . J '•' ' ■
