ACCOUNTANTS
NEW ZEALAND SOCIETY
A meeting of the executive, investigation, and finance committee of 'the New Zealand Society of' Accountants was held in Wellington last Friday, the following being present:—Messrs. W. A. Smith (president, in the chair), R. Davis, J. L. Griffin, A. M. Seamau, S. E. Lambert, P. B. Foote, J. M. Elliffe, and 11. Valentine.
Having passed the necessary examinations, the following were admitted to membership and classified as associate registered accountants: —Messrs. C. F. K. Hesketh and T. W. Lynch, both of Wellington.
The following were transferred from the status of associate registered accountant to that of associate public accountant:— Messrs. A. E. Dodd (Auckland). 11. V. Franklin (Wellington), P. B. Footc and R. S. Goodman (Timaru). Correspondence was received from the chairman of the audit committee ot the New Zealand Law Society covering recommendations in regard to amendments to the Regulations for the auditing of solicitors' trust accounts, and a sub-committee was set up to report on the proposed amendments.
A request for assistance was received from the Victoria University College Commerce Society in regard to the establishment of accountancy classes at Victoria University College. Further information was required before the society could finally deal with the matter, but the Commerce Society was advised that their proposals will be favourably considered whenever they have practical suggestions to make m connection ■ with the proposed classes.
