MEETING IN LONDON

(British Official Wireless.) (Beceived 15th October, 11 a.m.) BUGBY, 14th October. . Whilo tho Anglo-French conversations wero proceeding at tho Primo Minister's official residence in Downing Street this morning, important negotiations between the British and Irish Free State Governments were opened nearby at the offices of the Cabinet Secretariat. Tho negotiations havo reference to the financial matters in dispute, covering tho land annuities and other sums, formerly paid to the United Kingdom, which have been withheld by the Irish Free State, amounting in all to about £5,000,000 annually, whereof £2,900,000 represents land annuities payments. The British Government was represonted by the Dominions Secretary, Mr. J. H. Thomas, and other Ministers, and the Irish Free State's principal delegate was Mr. Bamon de Valera, President of the Executive Council of the Free State.
