WELLINGTON EAST CIRCUIT
The quarterly meeting of the Wellington East Methodist Circuit was held in the Maranui Church Hall this week. The Rev. !"• E. Leadley presided over a large attendance of members.
The return of senior members for the annual Synod showed a net increase of eight for the-year, the total being 2C4 Ihe financial report showed that income had met expenditure on the quarter's working. Reports on the Sunday schools and youth work indicated that renewed interest had been stimulated as the outcome of the youth campaign. Relieving collectors were authorised ou behaif of the Masterton Children's Home. Home and foreign mission matters were carefully considered, and arrangements made for the augmentation of these funds. The Rev. F. E. Leadley was cordially and unanimously invited to labour in the circuit for another year, appreciative references being made to the whole-hearted manner in which he is throwing himself into the work of the circuit. The invitation was accepted. The Rev. Mr. McDowell being undecided as to his future movements^ the question of the probationer minister's appointment was left in abeyance in the meantime. Messrs. R. Hampton, J. C. Riddell, and Mrs. Leadley were elected representatives to the annual Synod.
Mr. A. AY. Reed, a local preacher, was received on transfer from Trinity Circuit, Dunedin.
Plans, for new classrooms at Maranui were approved, and authority given for tenders to be called- for the work.
Letters of sympathy were directed to be sent to several members who had suffered bereavement during the quarter.
