OLD STEAMER SUNK

A familiar sight to Wellington residents is^ the old iron hull of a once sturdy little steamer, ending her days in rust and decay on the foreshore at Kaiwarra (writes a correspondent). This old l-ehe was formerly the s.s. Snark, built in the year ISB2, .which did good service for the Union Steam Ship Company some forty years ago at Gisbome and Wellington. Later her name was changed to Karamea, and she traded for a short time on the coast of New Zealand, but for reasons unknown went out of commission, and laid up in Wellington Harbour about 1906.
