RED CROSS APPEAL
The lady members of the Voluntary Aid Detachment of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Bed Cross So.ciety, in uniform,.with a number of voluntary helpers, were busily engaged to-day in the annual street' collection on behalf of the funds of the organisation. The executive of the society is extremely grateful to the public for the readiness with which assistance was given in stocking the stalls with produce, etc. Eight cases of flowers collected by school children, Blenheim, were received; gifts of flowers were also donated by gardeners of the Lower Hutt, the Fruitgrowers', Association, Wellington, and the medical superintendent of the Mental Hospital, Porirua. The hotel and restaurant proprietors of the city generously provided meals for the collectors. The proceeds of the collection will go to the general fund of the. society for aid to the sick and for the relief of distress.
