reports from, Peking claim considerable success for volunteers operating in Manchukuo, especially along the western section of the Chinese Eastern Railway. There, it is alleged, they occupy Tuchuan, Kaitung, Chengtung,. Tailai, and are also besieging Taonan, which is bMng defended by six Manchukuo regiments. :
Japanese forces along the TaqnanAngangchi and Taonan-Shihping-ehien railways have been heavily reinforced, to prevent the volunteers' further, progress. > ,
The Japanese are determined to end the guerilla warfare, with,which object they are organising a. new "Bighteous Corps," tentatively fixed at 10,000, and" capable of expansion as necessary. The corps is to be drawn from Chinese and Koreans,. officered throughout by Japanese. ■ ■ . "■
The Chinese allege that General Mutp is determined to exterminate the volunteers in the shortest possible time.
