An ; efEective but totally unexpected d* nlay of fireworks .created ■ consternatioa *t Melvern's stores in Karangahape road, Auckland, late this afternoon, and .resulted; in the main display ■window in front ■ of the establishment being badly damaged by fire. > -. The fireworks were being arranged in a display' appropriate to the apprpa'eh of Guy Fawkes Day when' from an unknown cause the material'ignited, and before1 the blaze was extinguished by the fire brigade the valuable plate-glass window had been shattered and considerable damage .had been done to the contents of the window.
