A BIRTHDAY PARTY

SUCCESSFUL AFTERNOON

There was a very large gathering of members of the League of Mothers at the Blue Triangle Hall yesterday afternoon, when the fifth birthday of" the i Central Branch was celebrated. Visitors i from other centres had been invited to be present, ana a large number accept-j ed the kindly invitation to rejoice with! the Central Branch mothers in/honour of the occasion, Mrs. G. W. Forbes was a special gneet of honour. She -was met by Mrs. P. T. Clark (president), and later gave much pleasure by announcing J- ». Elliott (Dominion president), Mrs. C. White (provincial president). Mrs. Ernest Dawson, and Mrs. E. F. Hadfield (Dominion.ana provincial hon. secretaries) were also on the platform with Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Forbes. A matter of interest was the wonderful cake, made with a tiny model of a house set in green fields, the gift of Mrs. Elliott, who was- asked to do the branch the honour of cutting the cake, all members having the opportunity of tasting and enjoying it later. A charming little entertainment was given by Mrs. Crump, Miss.Freeman, and Mr. Cedric Gardiner, this also giving great pleasure, and thanks were given to the performers by acclamation. Mesdames Elliott, White, and Dawson addressed the meeting during the. afternoon, all i being accorded close attention and ap.plause. ■ Th© meeting was a particularly successful one. '
