SEPTEMBEE RETURNS
IMPROVEMENT IN COTTON
(Received 13th October, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 12th. October. British trade returns show that the total imports for September were £54,266,000, , tho total exports £26,228,000, and re-exports £2,901,000. The principal decreases were:— Imports.—Grain and flour, £739,000; meat, £914,000; animals for food, £957,000; wood and timber, £692,000; iron and steel and manufactures thereof, £967,000; cotton yarns and manufactures; £697,000; woollen ditto, £1,150,000; apparel, £1.383,000; vehicles, £606,000. - Exports.—Coal,' £604,000; vehicles, £969,000. The increases were:—< Imports.—Saw cotton, £959,000. Exports.—Cotton yarns and manufactures, i £660,000.
