Light to southerly winds may be expected at first, according to to-day's official weather forecast, but winds will gradually back through the east to north again. Scattered and misty rain is likely at first ou parts .of the East Coast, but as a whole the weather should be mainly fair to fine, and milder temperatures ' may be expected to-morrow. Another shallow depression crossed the South Island last- night, and for so slight a disturbance brought a surprising amount of rain to the East Coast of the Soutli Island when barometers began to rise and the wind to back to the south-west. Now, however, an anticyclone- covers the Dominion and pressure gradients are slight. Winds arcvariable, with southerlies prevailing. Cool and changeable weather has been the general rule, with light } showers falling in many places. Auckland reports having had a fine day yesterday with, a cool southwesterly wind. Some light showers fell there last night. Wellington enjoyed a beautifully fine, if somewhat cool, day. A very light southerly gave place later in the day to a light northerly, but by this morning a southerly was again, in evidence, together with cloud and misty rain at times. Christchureh had a failday yesterday, but with the renewal of the southerly wind this morning light rain fell again, 18 points being recorded up to 9 a.m. - Bunedin yesterday had a fine and sunny morning, but the afternoon was cloudy, and there also light rain was falling this morning.
