The balance-sheet showed an increased deliciency, but it is anticipated that this will be remedied by the financial effort that is now.in .progress. It was decided that the thanksgiving Sunday to complete the effort will be held on 11th. December and the social will take place in the preceding week. The number of members was reported as 187,. exclusive of juniors. Keports were received on the progress of the canvass on behalf of home and foreign mission's. A retiring collection for the orphanage was granted, the offerin" to be taken on 18th December. Messrs. t>. T. 'S. Martin, secretary for district property, J. P. Shand,, and Mrs. Martin, were elected representatives to the annual (Tynod jat Masterton. Messrs. Ji. W. femitb and G. Roberts were elected substitutes. JMr.W.'Binet-Brown, on behalf of the circuif stewards^/estended a hearty and unanimous-invitation."to the ,Key.. W. Bramwell Scott to remain asminister of the church for' another year. After several had. spoken the motion, was carried unanimously.' Mr. Scott expressed bis pleasure ■, in accepting an ■ invitation that evidently lad behind it the goodwill of the congregation. Permission was granted to the Sunday-school to take the offerings on the occasion of the Sunday school anniversary on: 13th November. The Sunday School returns showed that the Sunday school, exclusive of the Bible classes, had" an attendance of 152, and the teachers numbered 24. It was remarked that _the teachers were taking great interest in' their training class and were devoted to their work. The Bible Classes showed a roll number totalling 60. If the teaching staff could' be" strengthened there would be no difficulty in greatly increasing the attendance at "the Sunday school. The other.young people's organisations were stated to be doing good- work m their own departments;
