'■■,■■ CHRISTCHURCH, 11th October. At the Baptist Union Conference today the Rev. L. 8.. Busfield reported for the fire insurance committee that the profit for the year had been £48 0s lOd, and the fun,d now; stood at £112 19s 10d. The committee recommended the establishment of ah insurance fund similar to that in existence in the; Presbyterian and Methodist Churcheß, the system to provide for the immediate reinsuring of all risks with' a reputable insurance company. . ;
Mr. Busfield said that if the churches wou)d link up with the. union's insurance scheme they would be putting money into its special fund instead of into the pockets of private agents. With proper support it would be possible to build up a. strong reserve. ; , It was agreed that the budget for the coming year* for the Baptist Missionary Society for work in East Bengal be £6786. It was decided also that at the earliest possible moment the hospital at Chandpu be converted to an institution for female patients only. ■
