ROOM FOR YOUNGER MEN

. LONDON, 11th October. Admiral Sir Hubert Brand has retired at his own request to facilitatt promotion. This has'resulted in various flag appointments,' including that of Vice-Admiral Hall-Thompson, promoted to Admiral. The biggest list of retirements since the War- includes fourteen captains promoted, of whom twelve have retired, including -several famous war-time officers. The retirements are due to the Admiralty's desire for a lower age. at which a captaiu may reach flag rank.
