WOMEN'S GOLF
THE SEMI-FINALS
MRS. TEMPLER BRILLIANT
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
jTIMAKU, This Day. The semi-finals of the New Zealand ladies' golf championships were played this morning in brilliant sunshine tempered with a light easterly breeze. The greens had dried out well after Monday's soaking rain, and played excellently.
Giving a stylish exhibition, Mrs. J. C. Templer (Waimate) heavily defeated Miss H. Loughnan (Christ'church), being 6 up and 5 to play. Mrs. Templer took the first four holes in a brilliant- manner. Tnis affected Miss -Loughnan, who fell into errors. Mrs. Templer continued well, and was 7 up at the turn. The game ended at the thirteenth green.
A keen struggle was provided in the match of Miss B. Eutherford (Hawarden) against Mrs. Collinson (Manawatu). The issue was in doubt till the last green, where putting lapses by Mrs. Collinson gave Miss Kutherford the victory by 1 up.
The final, which, will be over 36 holes, will be played to-morrow.
