INJURIES TO HEAD
BOXERs COLLAPSES
IN CRITICAL CONDITION
Collapsing after the gong had gone in an amateur bantamweight contest against D. Loveridge (Miramar) at tho Wellington. Boxing Association's tournament at the Winter Show Stadium last night, Geoffrey Wilson, a jockey, aged 17, who lives'at Trentham, was taken to the Wellington Hospital, where it was found that he was suffering- from severe head injuries. He was reported to-day to be still . unconscious, and in a very critical condition. : ■
It was while he was sitting in the corner after the final gong had gone in tho first amateur bout of the evening that "Wilson collapsed. Toward the^end of the bout he was knocked down, but rose again on the* count of five and appeared ready to continue the contest. Tho final gong went, however, and he returned to his corner, where he began to show signs of feeling unwell. Wilson is looked upon as being a very spirited boxer, and during the last three cr' months has taken part in about "ten contests. . .
