WHICH WAR?
AN AFRICAN STORY
War stories from readers have practically, become a tradition with London's evening papers during November. Most of them are getting a trifle stale and mannered, as is always the case with' a good thing overdone, and hardly any of "them, are as good as they were when tho fashion started, -says the London correspondent of the "Capo Times."
Here, however, is a summary of one story, taken from "The Star," which 1 •claim to bo tho best African war joke. It was sent in anonymously. In the "way-back" portions of Central Africa there was a lieutenant who in August, 1014, got the following message by native.runner. "War declared Arrest enemy aliens immediately.'' Tho lieutenant spent a busy day, Dion sent tho boy back with another message. "Have arrested two Frenchmen, one Portuguese, one Italian and wii'c, ono Hollander,, one Swede, and seven Germans. Please state with whom war declared."
