' CHRISTCHURCH, 6th February. The most notable market movement of the week has been a firming in the price of potatoes. To-day's quotation is 85s f .p.b., - s.i., ■ and the equivalent quotation to farmers is £3 to £3 os. Not much, business has been done at this figure, but the improvement indicates the growing impression that the crop will be disappointing. ' .'-■■••'
The "wheat coming forward is practically all' of milling-standard, a good- deal of it weighing 63 to 641b to the bushel. Millers are buying freely at the board's price of 4s: B%d f.o.b. Prompt fowl feed is quoted at 4s 5d f.0.b., and spread at 4s 3%d.t04s 4d.
There are buyers of spread oats at 3s, sellers wanting 3s o%d. Local A Gartons are worth 2s 9d on trucks for prompt, and B's 2sl 6d. Algerians are worth 3s on trucks.
Cocksfoot is quoted at 6%d to 7d a Ib for Akaroa seed, though occasional sales have taken place at higher figures. Plains seed is mentioned at 4%d, though none is ofieiingso far. Perennial ryegrass is Belling at -3s 9d to. 4s, to farmers, and Italian at 3s'6d to 3s 9d. ' '
