ELECTION OF OFFICERS

At the plenary session of tho World Disarmament Conference voting for fourteen Vice-Presidential officers took place and resulted in the election of the following in the order given: France, Italy, Britain, United States, Germany, Sweden, Japan, Spain, Argentine, Belgium, Bussia, Czechoslovakia, Poland, and Austria.

Sir John Simon, Foreign Minister, accompaned by Lady Simon and by Lord Londonderry, Secretary for Air, left this afternoon for the Geneva Disarmament Conference.

Before leaving Sir John said' that the dark clouds overhanging the Far East cast the special duty on him of returning to London as soon as might be. In the meantime he would be in the closest touch with the Cabinet.

He added that the Disarmament Conference represented the culmination of ten years' strenuous and devoted preparation by all who Bought peace. In this international effort Britain ha,d her part to play and her contribution to make.
