The hearing was concluded yester&vr' afternoon, before the Conciliation Council^! of the industrial dispute between the Netrl Zealand Federated Cooks and Stewards^! Union, and the shipping companies operating in the coastal services of the Do* minion. ! *
.Claims .wer.e made -on .behalf-.\b£ !-^b*s workers' union for an increase bn.the'pre^ Eeht'rate of wages; and other changes in! the existing' working conditions' of i;th# men. The employers filed claims request*!. ing.;\a decrease of the existing award.; rates, and a number of.modificationß ■ of the; clauses governing the conditions og the present agreement. -/i The workers', representatives -weri Messrs.
