MONEY IN OYSTERS
A GREAT COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISE
On 18th January of this year the STEWART ISLAND FRESH OYSTER COMPANY, LTD., went to allotment. .This means that the new method of transporting oysters in circulating sea-water has nloV been floated into a commercial enterprise of considerable magnitude, and with even greater possibilities.
rANYBODY who knows the fish buei- **• ness knows that oysters deteriorate rapidly by transportation. Considerable interest, therefore, was: aroused when a Bluff resident announced a sew method of oyster transport, namely: conveyance in steamers, with tanks fitted in the'holds through which fresh sea-water constantly passes. Experiments have proved that this method of. oyster storage is eminently successful. The response to the appeal to the pub; lie for share capital exceeded expectations] A steamer has been purchased and fitted out already for transport of oysters under
the new methcidj. 'and ' the steamer, will make its firist visit to 'Wellington 'shortly.' This first" shipment will mark. the beginning of a- new. era of a greater progress in a great industry which hitherto has been severely handicapped by the necessity of speed Uri reaching' the restricted markets available. *' .....: '.....-.-■ < .'
TJnder the new conditions made possible Bluff, oys, ters:will be delivered to any port in the' North Island, and also in: Australia as fresh and wholesome as they were'on the day on -which they were lifted-from their beds in the sea at Stewart; Island. The patent is unique, though simplicity itself, and to a circulatory system by ' •which fresh 'steaj water
will continually play over the oysters contained in the tanks specially fitted in the steamer* holds. Under patent rights, the new company has an absolute - monopoly of a method that will revolutionise the trade, create new markets, and provide handsome dividends for the shareholders. Such an opportunity of getting in on the ground floor by taking up shares now offers. People who took up shares in the original Tobacco Company operating at Napier made a small fortune. They more than doubled their money in a few months. But they did not havp a innno-
j poly of some new process of development, and other tobacco companies sprung up like mushrooms. In reference to the Stewart Island Fresh Oyster Conipany, Ltd., the patent confers exclusive rights in the matter of a new process of transport, which belongs to this company alone, and where competition- is an impossibility. Shares are £1 each, 2s on application, 2s or allotment, and calls not exceeding 2s per share monthly. Shareholder who pay-the .whole amount in cash will receive a bonus of 10 per cent, m fully paid-up shares. For prospectus and particulars apply Messrs. G. Cross and Co., at the Company's Branch Oflice, National Mutual Buildings, 98-104, Customhouse Quay, Wellington. Telephone 42-706. P.O. Box 602.
