JUSTICE BEFORE BOWLS
WITNESS IN TOURNAMENT
(By Telegraph.) . , ~ a (Special to "The Evening Post.") 1 AUCKLAND, This Day. "The game of bowls must .not be allowed, to interfere.with.the administration of justice,", observed. Mr. Justice Herdman in the Supreme Court to-day when counsel for the defence in a trial arising out of a motor-car .accident said that one of Ms witnesses had left for Rotorua to play in a bowling tournament and would not be availably immediately for a retrial made necessary by the jury's failure to agree. "A man's trial for negligent, driving causing death is i'ar more important than any game of bowls, " continued his Honour. "I am afraid it will upset the tournament," said counsel. With the agreement of counsel, hi* Honour did not fix a definite date for the retrial, leaving the arrangements until next week. .
