ENGLAND'S NEED
SERVANT SHORTAGE
"The Daily Mail" has published a statement by a high official of the Ministry of Labour to the effect that "if there were 50,000 women and girls today prepared lo take positions as domestic servants in good homos and at fair wages we could place them all in the north of England in two days."
This statement may bo said to apply also to Southern England, for an official of tho Ministry .of Health in Loudou said to a "Daily Mail" reporter: "There is no doubt that there are tens of thousands of jobs for domestic servants in good homes in the southern counties."
It is expected that tho changes in the "dole" being mado in connection Avitli the emergency economy'measures will induce largo numbers of unemployed women and girls, to overcome their prejudice agaiust domestic service and take jobs -which offer comfortable lodgings, good board, and regular wage*,
