LONDON WOOL SALES
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 3rd February, from the Higk Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— "Wool.—Sales closed 2nd instant. Competition was active throughout anfl oiferings met brisk clearance, tendency hardening as sales progressed. A feature wa« the keen demand for wool over 50's: Compared with closing rates last series merino super par to %d; other merino fully %d higher; halfbred par; fine crossbred,- %d to Id dearer; medium> and coarse crossbred, par; slipe, par to 5 per cent, better. Average closing values: 56/58's, average to super, lid to' Is Id; 50/56's, 9%d to lid; 48/50's, 7%d to B%d; 46/48's, 6%d to 7%d; 44/46's, 6d to Mid; 36/44's, 5%d to 6%d. Out of 116,500 bales sold, Home trade took 62,500, Continent 50^000, America 1000. Sisty-two thousand bales held over, inMuding 52,500 not offered. t Next .series commence Ist March."
