STREET PROCESSIONS

Tho Bylaws Committee last night submitted the following elauso:—"That the draft clauses submitted by the City Solicitor to prohibit processions in the city streets be adopted and. a separate bylaw be framed to give effect to same."

After councillors had discussed processions in general, the Mayor said that ho had not seen the draft clauses, but he did not like to prohibit all processions without stipulations. He had seen one recently of 1000 children which was quite harmless, even pleasing. Permits would perhaps meet the case.

Councillor-Huggins said that the clauses had been drawn af the request of the police.

The Mayor referred to a previous resolution only granting permits in certain events, leaving the council free to say what those events should be He suggested that the elauso be taken back, which was agreed to.
