ANTIQUE'S PERFORMANCES
-Last jear Antique voa the Takapuna Cup and followed up that performance by figuring m a triple dead-heat for fii/t with. Paganelh and Gold Money in the Takapuna Jockey Club Handicap. This \ear Antique impioved on that feat by again winning the Takapuna Cup and sconng outright in the Takapuna Jockey Club Handicap. Antique's form in both yeais has been very good, but his efforts this jear suipaesed those oE twelve months ago because he had much more -weight in each lace this time, actually 171b more in the Cup and a.stone raoie in the handicap. An lmpiessivc featuie of Antique's perfoimances last week was the facile manner in which he disposed of the opposition on each occasion. In spite of the, fact that the horse vas burdened with 9 6 on the second day Giay dicT'not hesitate to take him on the outside nearing the turn, and once he saw daylight Antique soon had the race in hand. Over the last hundred yards he was challenged by Royal Aitist, but he always held the upper hand and scored handsomely , Antique has developed into a fine handicap peiformer, and, althougty he is now well up in the -weights, he bhould continue to win in his turn while he retains his present form.
