LOWER HUTT COURT

Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., dealt with cases in the Magistrate's Court at Lower Hutt yesterday.

The case in which H. Smith was charged with supplying liquor at the Taita Hotel after hours was re-heard, and the fine of £5 originally imposed was reduced to £1.

Margaret Armstrong was convicted and ordered to pay 10s costs for failing to keep to the left. For driving a car at night without a rear light, Cecilia Mary Duncan was convicted and ordered to pay 12s costs.

Two charges of defaulting for more than one month in the payment of instalments of the unemployment levy were made against Leslie Robert Gray. On the first he was convicted and fined £1 and on the second he was convicted and discharged. For a similar offence, H. C. Willis was convicted and ordered to pay 12s costs.

Charged with being found unlawfully on private premises, Arthur John Stratton was remanded. for medical observation. The defendant had previously been before the Court because of hia having paid .unwelcome attentions to a. girl who resided on those premises, and according to the sergeant of police he had been out of gaol only a few days when he gave trouble igain and the present charge was laid. On a judgment summons William Cottle, Junr., was ordered to pay W. H. Lovendge £4 7s forthwith, in default five days' imprisonment.
