DUNEDIN WOOL SALE
KEEN COMPETITION
95 PER CENT. SOLD
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, 2nd February.
The second wool sale of the 1931-32 season was held, this afternoon and even-' ing, when catalogues comprising 30,000 bales were submitted to a full bench of buyers, representing the world's consuming centres as well as Dominion mills and fellmongers. The offering comprised an excellent selection of well-grown wool, and some extra choice clips were brought under the hammer and elicited full competition. The condition'of the offering as a whole was surprisingly good, being sound, clean, and well. grown. The Continent supplied the major portion of the buying power, with good support from Bradford and Japan. Dominion mills were also keen operators for wools suitable to their trade. . , The demand throughout was keen, and it is estimated that about 95 per cent, of the offering was sold under the hammer. ' Merinos met with a fair sale at prices showing little alteration compared with December rates, with.'the exception of medium qualities, which! may be quoted at par to halfpenny advance. Halfbreds met a particularly good market with some very choice lots on offer. For better lines the market may be quoted firmer at a halfpenny advance, while medium qualities *of this descrip: tion appreciated by a halfpenny to one penny. - ■ . '' Crossbreds, 48's quality, appreciated to the extent of a halfpenny to one penny. Crossbreds of "below 48's[ met a fair demand at prices showing little or no ap-; preciable change, but they . realised, fully equal ;to the present London parity . Crossbred hoggets were in keen demand and improved in value to the extent of a halfpenny to one penny. The demand for necks, pieces, and bellies was keen, and. for better: lines prices advanced about a halfpenny.
