Mr. John Myers stated-at a meeting of the council of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce last evening that the Importers Committee ' fullydiscussed,,'the; ■ question, of. exchange and the credits pool, and came to the conclusion that as the matter was in tho hands of the Associated Chambers the committee would not proceed further with the matter, but the question could be discussed at the next meeting of the; council. Mr. Myers then read the resolutions -passed by the executive of! the Associated* Chambers in opposition to the action taken by tho Government under 'the Oixler-in-Council. The speaker remarked that in ordinary times free exchange .was desirable. • But these we're abnormal :times. He,thought ; that/in matters of urgency the Associated Chambers "could be of; great assistance1 to"the* Government. ;.The. suggestion was-made that, say, eight members of the' commercial community should confer with the Government upon important,, matters such" as this.
