The weather still •_ continues to be controlled by a deep depression which covers'most of the Dominion and the Tasman Sea. Fresh northerly winds hav,e predominated, tho weather being unsettled, with rain in places, in districts with, a westerly ~-tfspect: trails, however, have,, been confined chiefly? to the West Coast and southern districts of' tho South Island and -to 1 the' Cook Strait area. Westland has had some heavy ram, tho biggest falls being'— Okuru, 3&0 points; Westport, 195 points; Arthur's Pass, 115 points; and Greymouth, 95 jfoints. Some light rain fell at Timaru last night,- but the East Coast provinces generally have continued lainlcss. It ■was a fine day in Auckland jes teiday, but tho evening was cloudy. "Wellington had some light rain yeatei day morning (five points at Kelburn and two at Lower Hutt), and further light ram fell again last night. Cloudy vreathei, with a moderate northeily wind, prevailed. Christchurch had a suuny day yesterday, a light W.S W. wind changing at noon to a north easterly. It was a fine day also in Dunedni, the wind there being a light i noith easterly. ' I
