HAUTERE RIFLE CLUB

Members of the Hauterc Rifle Club competed for President Thomson's trophy over ranges 300, 500,.and 000 yards, in two .stages. „On Saturday, 23rd January, ten shots at 300 and1 500 yards.were fired, the weather conditions being favourable.' Leading range scores were:' G. Hayward (46) and J. Fielding (45) at 200 yards, and C. Strom (47),' C. Morgan (45), G. Hayward (45) at 500 yards. Last Saturday ten shots, at. 600 yards completed the trophy:shoot, also the'final .of the Cook Cup competition. A strong and changeable wind gave trouble to; most marksmen, M. Fielding heading the list with 43.. Rflmn. Hay\yard won the trophy and Fielding' Bros, the second and'third ammunition prizes. The Cook Cup was won by Rflmn. J. Fielding after a close finish, only .one point separating each of the first three men. The-cup-score of-400 is the highest recorded during the seven years of> the competition, and reflects' the liigher average of scores noted in all contests this season.
