WELLINGTON BRANCH

; Mr. W. Perry presided at a meeting of the Wellington branch of the Navy League yesterday afternoon. ■ The secretary reported that Mr. Perry wrote to the Wellington Education Board giving details of visits by Mr. Darroch to schools in the Wellington, Nelson, and Marlborough districts last year, and asking for the same facilities to be'granted for similar visits this year. It-was understood that this permission would be granted. The Masterton sub-branch forwarded the suggestion that the secretary should write to England' asking the head office to send out pictures to serve as Navy League propaganda to ,the overseas branches. .■ -A series of extracts from English newspapers referring to the wreath /from the Wellington branch of the Navy League which was placed at tho foot of the Nelson Monument in Trafalgar Square, London, last Trafalgar Day, were read, and members expressed satisfaction at their publicity value. : The Navy League Sea Cadet Corps, Picton, wrote asking if the branch could assist the newly-formed corps in obtaining a suitable boat for training purposes. Letters had also been sent to the Auckland and Dunedin branches, and the Christchurch branch had allocated £10 to the No. 1 company. Members stressed the difficulty in making a grant,, and it was decided to ask for further^information.
