SYDNEY, This Day. The State expenditure for the si^ months of the present financial year ended 31st -December, exceeded the revenue by £8,279,763. The revenue lolo^H' 5"'158 and the expenditure £27,878,921. The deficit to date is more than Mr. Lang's estimate for the whole year. The expenditure increased by over £2,000,000 compared with the same period of,-the last financial year and the receipts have fallen by £1,250,000 in the same period. The situation, however, is expected to improve during the next half-year, as income tax is due.
