A STADIUM FOR BIGHEADS
The bad boys of two Continents may presently be seen on debating platform. Very few people may talk reparations-reduction to France, and no one may mention disarmament, but during the Laval "pilgrimage" to America Senator Borah talked of both, and since die French Premier has returned to France the Senator has said very emphatically that the United States should get out of Europe unless dollar diplomacy can promptly disarm the Continental military forces. These things, coming from the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the United States Senate, must be even more disturbing to President Hoover than was Mr. Churchill's attack a few months ago on the British Government's then Indian policy (before the latest Gandhi developments). Mr. Churchill's well-known blucher boot policy towards the Indian revolution (to be) and the Russian revolution (in being) has provided the desired angle of approach to the debating platform, because Mr. Borah "will be expected to defend the policy of Great Britain in recognising the Russian Government." The probability that each protagonist will be running counter to his Government's policy is deemed to be a guarantee of good faith. A Churchill-Borah bout certainly bring a big "gate"—after which one may expect that Bernard Shaw and Dean Inge will be matched against some of the United States intellectuals. This business could certainly boom, but needs aTexßickard.
