The death occurred at Seville, Vie« toria, on Christmas Day, of Mr. J. B. Murray, well known in Duuedin over 40 years, ago .as a Eugby wingthreequarter. Mr. Murray was captain of the Dunedin Club for three years, and for eight successive years, from 1878,"was a member of the Otagq representative team. He was. in the employ of Messrs. Sargood, Son, and Ewen for some time in'Dunedin, and on his re« moval to. Melbourne in the Eighties ha re-entered, the service of the firm, ia which ho remained for many years. Ho was married in. The funeral of the late Herbert E. M. Gordon, S/Sgt. 11/43 A, took placa at the Soldiers' Cemetery, Karori, on Friday afternoon, and was. largely, attended by friends and relatives. Thai service was conducted by the.Bay. Mr. Hitchcox.-- Among those, present were Mr. E. A. Wright, M.P., Cap't..'Jervis (representing the G.0.C.), Mr.B. Tait (representing the Mayor), Major Watson (representing the 8.5.A.),' Mr. Lang (representing the Pensions Department), and the matron and several members of the staff and inmates of the Bed Cross Home. ,
Private advice has-been received ia Wellington that Mr. Alexander Kay, ■who was for many years associated withi the London office of the Bank of New Zealand, died in London on. Thursday after a short .illness, aged 77. Mr. Kay joined the, bank in London ia 1881 and was appointed manager ia 1910. He, retired in 1921 arid was then appointed to the London board of directors of the bank. Mr. Kay "was very; well known, to. hundreds _of New Zealandera who called upon him in connection -with .bank business..
