WELFARE OF THE GAME
A MANAGER'S ATTITUDE
(By Telegraph..—Press Association.)
HAMILTON, This Day. . "There is room for much better organisation in Dominion cricket,'' stated Mr. D. Hay, manager of the New Zealand cricket team to England in 1927. "For example, every racing club of any size in New Zealand has a paid secretary to look after its affairs. So has every county cricket club in England. In tho Dominion wo have not a full-time paid secretary even for the New Zealand Cricket Council. When a first-rate man is employed in such a position New Zealand cricket may be expected to .rise to the same' level as is attained by Rugby football. Cricket in this country lacks direction, which can only come from an executive with at least one man paid to give his whole time and thought in the interests of the game." '■ '" ' ': '"'•
