FATALITY IN CITY
MAN DIES FROM INJURIES
CAR DRIVER HURT
Struck by a motor-car at, the corner of Cuba and Ghuzneo streets at 7.35 p.m. yesterday, James Francis McKavanaugh, aged 51, a waterside worker, living at 20, Jessie street, received severe injuries, and died almost immediately. Tho driver of the car, Mrs. C. O. Evans, of Fairview crescent, received abrasions to the nose and.slight cuts to the face when tho car struck a verandah post. It is stated by witnesses that tho deceased and another man were standing talking near the kerb. In endeavouring to avoid a collision with a lorry the car is said to have swerved towards the footpath. The deceased and his companion jumped for safety, but unfortunately the former jumped in front of the car. Mr. McKavanaug'u's wife and family live in Brisbane.
