, SIX POLICE KILLED

NEW YORK, 2nd January. At Springfield, Missouri, two sheriffs and four detectives were killed in an attempt to remove a murder suspect from a farmhouse. The latter opened fire on the officers with a machine-gun. He wounded two others.

Biot squads, gas squads, and troops were ordered out to take the accused, who had been sought for two years.
