RACES IN AUCKLAND

ber of them were paraso.l3 to harmonise in all kinds of charming designs. Lace and broderio Anglaise were also worn by several women, and Shantung in frocks and in two-piece coßtumes rivalled them in 'favour. 'Largo shady hats have come- Into "* their own again, and on Friday their ■ wearers found them most comforting when facing the brightness of ■ tho sun. In such circumstances the " bowler M hat, of which many wer© to be seen, is at a disadvantage unless its wearer has provided herself with a parasol. . A few instances wero to be seen of the light jacket worn over a dark skirt and vico versa—a dark short" jacket over a light fragile frock. Their Excellencies, 'the GovernorGeneral and Lady- Bledisloe, attended tho races, .Her Excellency wearing a frock of beige lace and georgette with a coatee of lace and a deep cream hat banded with narrow beige and red ribbon. Lady Norah Jellicoo was in a frock of palest p^ink chiffon with matching coatee and a' wide-briihmed1 pink hat banded with blue ribbon.
