DIFFICULTIES OF PLANTERS

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. As a result of the world over-produc-tion, of tea, many planters arc facing difficult times, said Mr. F. G. Chaw, a tea planter, of Dargeeling, who arrived by the Narbada from Calcutta.

Planters, he said, were not looking forward to' the New Year hopefully, and some of the plantations on the plains would have to close down. There Mas an excess of tea on the market, and the price to the producer had consequently been forced down. After transport and marketing very little profit remained for the producer. In the case of one tea-planting company £1 shares had recently sold for 4d; It -was not aii encouraging outlook.
