The "Daily Mail's" Cairo correspondent says that'the high price of gold in Europe, is tempting gold hoarders to sell their metal. Speculators are resorting to various devices toevade the Government prohibition of the export of gold and are risking severe penalties. Most of the successful gold-smug-gling convoys have traversed the, Sinai desert with camels, thence, have passed through Palestine and Syria, whence the gold is shipped to France. The vigilance' of the Camel Corps traversing the desert tracks has now rendered this method hazardous. Tho corps made several big hauls. It is estimated that there are £10,000,000 to £15,000,000 worth of. gold in Egypt, mostly in the possession of peasants.
