A Press Association cablegram from Melbourne states that Mr. R. J. Mayne, 1 of Albury College, has been appointed headmaster •of Montone Grammar , School. Ho was formerly on (he staff . of leading New Zealand sciools. At the recent, meeting o.: the Board of Directors of the V.M.C.A. a sympathetic reference was made to the death of Sir John Luke, who for many years had been a member and supporter of the association, and a resolution of condolence was passed. The funeral of the late Mr. Harry T. F. Bullock, an old resident of Wellington, and for over thirty years a member of the staff of Levin and Co., Ltd., took place yesterday, and was largely attended by former fellow officers and friends. Mr. Bullock retired from the service of the company about nine years ago. Last March Mr. and Mrs. Bullock celebrated their golden wedding, and left New Zealand soon afterward on a world tour. The funeral of the late Hon. William L'arnshaw, M.L.C., took place to-day, and although it had been announced that the ceremony would bo private, a number of representative citizens attended a short service held at the mortuary chapel. The service was conducted by the Rev. F. H. Wilkinson, of the Wadestown Presbyterian Church. Amongst those present were the widow, son (Mr. V. E. Eavnshaw), Mr. E. A. Wright, M.P., Mr. P. Fraser, M.P., Mr. E. W. Kane (clerk of Parliaments), representing the Speaker of the Legislative Council, Mr. A. D. Bothamley, an.l n number of Government officials and members of the Order of Druids.
